Yagon – Mandalay -Yangon

Day 01 Yangon (B) (Guide) (L)(D)
Meet on arrival at YANGON International Airport and transfer to
hotel. Yangon sightseeing includes KABA AYE (WORLD PEACE) PAGODA,
MAHAPASANA GUHA CAVE, where the Sixth Buddhist Council took place
and Rangoon's oldest Chinese temple. An extended visit to SHWEDAGON
PAGODA, one of the world's most spectacular religious monuments,
will conclude today's sightseeing tour of this picturesque Garden
City. The golden dome of the Shwedagon Pagoda rises 98 meters above
its base and is covered with 60 tons of pure gold. Overnight in
Yangon.
Balance of the day at leisure to pursue individual interests.

Day 02 Yangon – Mandalay (B) (Guide) (L)(D)
Transfer by airport for domestic flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival
at Mandalay Airport proceed directly to Amarapura. Visit
MAHAGANDAYON, a famous Buddhist monastery, where more than a
thousand monks live and study; continue to 200-year-old U BEIN teak
bridge, built in 1782 at the time when Amarapura was the royal
capital. Visit BAGAYA MONASTERY, with a superb collection of Buddha
status. Before returning to Mandalay, stop at a traditional
hand-weaving silk workshop en route.
After lunch, proceed on a comprehensive sightseeing tour including
MAHAMUNI PAGODA with its spectacular Buddha image covered with thick
layers of gold leaves, SHWE INBIN, one of the most outstanding
monasteries in the country, SHWE NAN DAW KYAUNG or GOLDEN PALACE
MONASTERY, a superb example of a traditional wooden building,
KUTHODAW PAGODA, known as the world's largest book, consisting of
729 marble slabs engraved with Buddhist scriptures. A visit is also
made to a jetty to observe daily life at the river and to a
craftsmen's workshop to see Kalaga tapestries being created. Sunset
from MANDALAY HILL. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in
Mandalay.
Day 3 Mandalay – Mingun- Ava-(B) (Guide) (L)(D)
We will go to jetty where we take a short and pleasant ride
upriver to Mingun, the site of what would have been the world’s
largest zedi had not King Bodawpaya died in 1819 thus halting all
further work. Later an earthquake in 1838 split the monument and
reduced it to partial rubble. Nonetheless, it is still a very
impressive sight as we approach from the river. Nearby we can also
visit the Mingun Bell, moved from the zedi after the earthquake and
now hung in a new shrine building. It is said to be the largest hung
uncracked bell in the world. Return to Mandalay.
Visit the former royal capital of Inwa, founded in 1364 which lasted
nearly 400 years. Highlights include the ‘leaning tower of Ava’, the
Maha Aungmye Bonzan, which is a brick-and-stucco monastery, and the
elegant teakwood monastery Bagaya Kyaung. Dinner at a local
restaurant and overnight in Mandalay.
Day 4 Mandalay –Yangon (B) (Guide) (L)
Travelers having arrived mid-day on Day 01 will transfer to
Yangon International Airport for departure.
For these having arrived during afternoon, a morning of sightseeing
will include the city highlights as shown in Day 01 of the
itinerary. Transfer to Yangon International Airport for departure.
